Understanding CMC E Khata & Its Registration Process
Until the establishment of Bruhat-Bengaluru-Mahanagara-Palike (BBMP) in the year 2007, properties in the Bangalore city used to be managed by different Municipal Councils (CMCs). During this period, CMC Khata certificates used to be issued for giving legal recognitions to land & properties here. After the formation of BBMP, which merged multiple smaller municipalities & areas around Bangalore, new categories of Khatas came into existence. E-Khata, A Khata, B Khata etc. were introduced.
CMC Khata Means?
Before the establishment of BBMP, CMC Khata Bangalore used to be a document, which recorded the details of properties under the jurisdiction of the urban Municipal Council. As BBMP formed, it aimed at better management for the rapid growth of the city. So, the responsibility of issuing Khatas now got transferred to this new city government. Resultantly, properties that were earlier CMC Khatas were upgraded to BBMP Khatas (A Khata or B Khata) for further legal recognition.
CMC Khata vs a Khata – How to Get a BBMP Khata?
CMC Khata that was earlier issued by the Municipal Council is now generally not considered valid for real estate transactions like registrations after BBMP incorporation. Properties within the extended jurisdiction of BBMP must have BBMP Khata for their transactions to be legally recognized. BBMP Khata happens to be very significant for real estate registration & transactions as it indicates compliance with the rules & regulations laid down by BBMP. Though one can no longer do CMC Khata download as it is no longer issued, property owners in Bangalore can get a BBMP Khata by following the steps described underneath:
